Nice Unit But.... The Rival® Slicer (Model 1060C) is a generally well designed unit. I say generally because there appears, in my unqualified opinion, to be one major design and/or manufacturing flaw associated with the product.

The first unit I received had a broken speed control knob that prevented any speed adjustment. This unit was exchanged (thank you Amazon for making that process painlessly easy) for another.
