Brita 42556 Grand Pitcher I think the Brita filters do a good job of filtering the water. I just wish the pitchers were better made. I get a couple of years out of a picture before they fall apart.

The lid also does not really fit very securely. If you try to pour water before while the upper chamber is filled the lid comes off and the water spills out all over.... –Brian Jordanfrom Amazon.com

just ok i guess whether or not you get a functioning pitcher is how lucky you are. I have one at home and the top fits snug and i was very happy with it. i bought one for work and the lid fit very poorly. i called Brita and they sent a new lid. fits a little better but not tight and will fall off if tipped too far. we like the size of the pitcher so decided to keep it and solved the problem by writing "hold lid while pouring" with a sharpie. –Blinksterfrom Amazon.com

This Is My Second Brita Grand Pitcher . . . I am having a pretty hard time with the bad reviews here.

This is our second Brita Grand Pitcher. The first one lasted about 15 years. I dropped it into our sink, thereby cracking it, resulting in purchasing the new one. I have found no major differences between the new pitcher and the old pitcher.

1. I have NEVER had a problem with the filter falling out. People, PUSH IT IN!!! It won't fall out once you push it in firmly, believe me.
