Broken Cover - 3" x 3" packing foam didn't prevent it
The old Menards Tool Shop cheapie air compressor broke after 8 years. Decided to find a new, quiet, light-weight compressor for filling car tires. After much research, I settled on this Makita Model. I read all the Amazon.com reviews about the broken cover but also saw that some received the cover intact. I was desperate for this compressor (famous final words) so went ahead with the purchase.
FedEx delivered it today. Opened up the box. The air filter, bottle of compressor oil, and...

great for the weekend warrior
i use this on a weekly basis doing everything from framing to sheathing to hvlp painting to pumping up tires and everything in between, and i've had it for a year now. it's definitely undersized for hvlp sprayers and sheathing with a framing nailer, but it's perfectly adequate for everything else i've used.
it's on the heavy side so i wouldn't like taking this to the job site everyday. i put it on a 3/4" mdf board and attached four casters to that. it's great for rolling it around the garage ...

Makita MAC700 oiled Hotdog Comp.
Arrived well packaged via FedEx, perfect condition. Oil stain on carton, most likely due to factory run-in residue. As cautioned by another revue of this unit, a part of tag wire had fallen into the oil reservoir, so retrieved with a magnet. Looks like they stick the tag wire into the oil fill hole, then cram the rubber plug in to secure the tag. DUMB!!! Then again, maybe the 'lil wire would not do any harm to the thing. Go Figger...
