09 Oct 2008 great in thought i purchased the auto rewind along with a regular snap line, i thought the auto rewind could be a useful feature. long and short after playing with it for a while dry there is no need to put chalk in it as i will never use it.
they advertise 30 or 32 feet of line but to get past 24' you need to unwind the spring then rewind the spring to get the line to auto retract, then it acured to me that like my tape measure when rewinding i put some finger pressure on the tape to stop it from "slamming" ... –pccfrom Amazon.com
31 Jan 2007 Just like my retractable tape I have owned a few of these auto rewind chalk boxes and they have always worked great. Just like my tape measure, the line rewinds. Keep in mind that if you have a bunch of line hanging out, you may have to help the line from dragging and snagging, just like you do with your tape measure. But avoiding the hastle of rewinding by chalk line by hand is great! This is a great tool if you know how to use it! –Gary Bertonfrom Amazon.com
16 Nov 2004 Cheap!!! This chalk line seems like a time saving idea but trust me...it' a waste of time and money. I spent more time trying to get the chalk line to "automatically" rewind then I did actually using the line. After a couple of days or so the hook on the end of the line fell off but thankfully I found it. I took the chalk line apart trying to re-attach the hook (mistake) and after wasting about 10 minutes I threw the thing in the garbage and picked up my old $4 Irvin chalk line and went back to work. ... –Brian Harveyfrom Amazon.com
