Lightweight
easy to handle, adequate power. Compact. Reasonable price.
One sweet little saw!
I've owned this saw for about a year... in that time it's built a staircase, a monster of a desk, installed laminate flooring, two subwoofer boxes, and a table among other things. The light weight really makes the 5740 helpful on those long extended reach cuts. My dad actually owns the same saw, before the Makita he had a cheap-o skilsaw and I had an ANCIENT (1960's?) Craftsman. The difference in using this saw and either of those is akin to using a scalpel for surgery - or a machete. I shudder ...

Good lightweight.
Only use occasionally for light weight projects and it performs well, mainly bought for its weight.
