I purchased this hammer drill to chip out an access hole through a 12" thick foundation wall to a crawl space under a new house addition. Drilling the wall with a 3/8" bit took no time. Once this drill warms up it hammer drills quickly. The hammer only mode doesn't hit very hard but after a few hours I had a hole large enough to crawl through. Read the reviews and decided to purchase this tool based on a variety of needs. The design is very good, swiveling cord strain relief, rafter hook, excellent power. In performing floor repairs I found with the right chisel inserted it works quite well to slide sections of tongue and groove hardwood flooring out from between boards without damaging the tongues- A job that can be really slow using hand tools.
